Builders Anonymous is proud to be female-founded, owned, and run, with a female employment rate of 75% in an industry where the standard is only 14%. This International Women’s Day, we want to bring together women at any stage of their careers in the fields of design, architecture, and construction to celebrate each other, learn from our experiences, and discuss how we can continue to push the industry forward.
Builders Anonymous’ Commitments:
Hiring and Upskilling Women
We prioritize hiring women and providing vocational pathways. Our director, Natasha Dunne, and the team understand the challenges women face in the industry, particularly those entering from TAFE or early in their careers. To address the lack of opportunities and role models for women in construction, we invest in upskilling and educational pathways.
Supporting Female-Run Businesses
We collaborate with and support other female-run businesses committed to diversity. This includes prioritizing tenders from such companies and sharing our principles and practices to foster a diverse team.
Hybrid Work System for Parents
We advocate for a flexible work environment to support parents, including hybrid working styles, flexible hours, work-from-home options, job sharing, and part-time opportunities. We maintain open communication with parents to tailor work arrangements to their needs.
Long-Term Goals
Our long-term goals are to lead the industry in gender equity and support, continue advocating for broader gender equality, and be transparent about our policies and achievements. Specifically, we aim to:
- Prioritize hiring women at all career levels.
- Invest in training and upskilling women in our team.
- Maintain a supportive, flexible workplace for parents.
- Prioritize collaborations with companies supporting women in the industry.
At Builders Anonymous, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for women in the construction industry, driving progress and setting new standards for gender equity.
